Another of our chaps shot down

Bad enough Ronnie Hazlehurst going the other week, I got a bugger of a shock reading the obituaries in the paper yesterday morning to find that Alan Coren had bought it - no, I don't watch the telly and I hadn't listened to The News Quiz for a wee while (jeez, maybe not since just after Linda Smith slipped this mortal coil, another total solar plexus kick). Hell, I just assumed he'd always be on it, certainly whenever I next decided to tune back in again. Damn and blast. Never Ass-u-me, as Benny Hill used to always say...

Not much YooToob action for the great man as yet, just a great HIGNFY election special here, here and here. Missing you already, old bean :-(

Hear hear!

Read about Coren's passing on teletext Sunday night and was thoroughly upset, was going to write about it on my blog was how dare a mere blogsmith write about such a master of the English word. Rest in peace.

Didn't hear about Ronnie so doubly down now...

Didn't even know AC was ill, the whole thing came completely out of the blue. I didn't want to write too much either but felt I had to mark his passing. Bloody awful business.

The demise of Ronnie H was surprisingly unheralded given the man was such a musical titan. The news about him knocked me for six as well... Interestingly, pretty much the only decent site that I stumbled upon about Ronnie was run by another music giant from our wasted youth...
